Transportation
Rider Central > Transportation
The UP is long and skinny.
This makes it pretty easy to get back to your car if you aren’t doing the whole ride in one go. For example, start in Escanaba and ride five days to Marquette. On the sixth day ride your bike 70 miles back to Escanaba, and we’ll transport your luggage.
If none of the options below work for you, we are working on finding a way to connect bikers with other bikers so that they can carpool, drop off and pickup vehicles.

The UP is only 50 miles wide in some sections. We start in Manistique and go clockwise, eventually finishing back in Manistique. This helps you plan how to tackle a portion of the 10 day trip. For example, you can leave a car in Manistique and take a (supplied) route on your bike 65 miles to Grand Marais. We’ll transport your luggage. Then enjoy three days of riding with the group and finish back at your car.
We transport luggage from hotel to hotel each day during the trip. We will make special luggage transport trips back to people’s cars for those not riding all 10 days. This includes transporting luggage from Houghton Iron Mountain, Marquette to Iron Mountain, Escanaba and Manistique. We can also transport luggage north from Manistique to Marquette and Grand Marais.
Bike route mileage:

Marquette to Iron Mountain - 92 miles
Marquette to Escanaba - 71 miles
Marquette to Manistique (or vice versa) - 98 miles
